Nepal has four main seasons; we recommend visiting the country in post-monsoon i.e. September-November). The weather is clean and dry and mountains are visible. If you won’t be able to visit in these seasons than the Spring season can be the other way around.

Nepal faces monsoon season from the mid of June to mid of September.

VISA INFORMATION TO VISIT NEPAL

 

On arrival, visas are available at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

  • 15 days single entry visa – USD $30
  • 30 days single entry visa – USD $50
  • 90 days single entry visa – USD $125

If you are planning to take a ‘Visa on Arrival’ then the following procedures must follow;

  • Fill out the ‘Arrival Card’ given by the immigration department.
  • Fill in the ‘Tourist Visa’ form.
  • Make payment for the visa as per the requirements (15/30/90) days.
  • Get the receipt.
  • The passport control section shows the receipt and passport.

 

ELECTRICITY & INTERNET SERVICE IN NEPAL

 

Nepal no longer has load shedding. The power is 24 hours available. 

Internet service is moderate. Most of the hotels give free internet service to their guests. One can also use, mobile data provided by NTC & NCELL for surfing the internet. The mobile internets are comparatively faster than cable networks.

Mobile phone sim card is easily available in the market. You need to submit a copy of your passport and fill the form to take sim cards. SIM cards are available at a starting price of NRs. 100/-. The network coverage of SIM cards is throughout the country.

 

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IN NEPAL

 

If you are not familiar with the travel routes, then you may land in confusion. To the new visitors, we suggest hiring a vehicle or renting a vehicle to move inside the Kathmandu valley or outside. The prices are affordable, hence making your Nepal travel, comfortable.

For the outward journey from Kathmandu, tourists bus, private transfers, and domestic flights are easily available. The cost of using local transportation inside Nepal is;

  • Local Bus – Starts from NRs. 20 
  • Taxi/ Cab – Starts from NRs. 500
  • Tourist Bus – Starts from NRs. 800

 

Though the country is small, traveling can really be hectic. Even to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu, by land, the time taken is not less than 6 hours.

Vehicles can be hired or taken on rent for private traveling purposes. Public vehicles are usually crowded, and hence the journey can be tiring. VISA cards, Master cards, and UNION cards are accepted throughout the country. The maximum withdrawal from ATM counters as stated by the Nepal Rastra Bank is NRs. 60,000/- per day, whereas the limit for each transaction is NRs. 20,000/-. 

POPULAR FOOD & DRINKS IN NEPAL

  • Dal Bhat, the power food: The staple food of Nepalese is Dal Bhat (rice & lentil). The meal comprises of curry, rice, veggies, salad, pickle, and curd. The food is available in several versions also known as Thakali food and can be eaten for lunch as well as for dinner.
 
  • Local Momos: The Nepali version of dumplings is served with homemade soup and pickles. It is available in steamy, fried, or liquid (jhol) versions. Momo is available in the both vegetarian and non-vegetarian forms.

  • Other Cuisines: Continental, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Indian restaurants are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. One can pick any one of the cuisines.
 
  • Existence of Pizza Hut & KFC: In Kathmandu & Pokhara you have KFC & Pizzahut, but in other parts of the country you get to savor the local food found in a different culture.
 
  • No McDonald’s or Domino's: You won’t find any of these franchises in Nepal. Well, that means you can try out the local burgers and pizza which are absolutely spot on. However, you are here to taste Nepalese food so why loiter for fast food.
