Millions of tourists worldwide consider Nepal as of the world's most popular tourist destinations. This country is truly a naturally blessed region due to its diversity in culture, lush vegetation, rare animals and birds, thundering rivers, beautiful hills, extreme sports, and immense mountains.

Despite the years of political instability, Nepal holds the potential to become a global tourism powerhouse. Known for its beauty, it is one of the world's most beautiful countries.

Here in this blog, we discuss the 11 most underrated destinations for you to visit this 2023.

11 under-rated destination of Nepal

People have heard of places and trails such as Everest Base Camp, Pokhara, Annapurna Base Camp, and Kathmandu Valley. Still, there are also less-known places that deserve more consideration. Take a look at these underrated spots in Nepal:

1)    Damodar Kunda Tour

Damodar Kunda has been described as one of the holiest places in Nepal, where Lord Bishnu is said to have resided. This place is underrated, even though it holds strong cultural significance, and fewer people know about it. Additionally, it is a mesmerizing place due to its beauty.

The Damodar Kunda is located at an altitude of 4890 meters in the Upper Mustang region. Damodar Kunda is believed to be a holy place where one should take a holy bath at least once.

A memorable vacation package is available for the Damodar Kunda Tour, which we highly recommend to everyone. We assure you that you will not be disappointed with your experience at the Damodar Kunda Tour.

2)    A wildlife tour of Koshi Tappu

We recommend the Koshi Tappu Wildlife tour to those who love wildlife, whether they are a biologist or not. The government protects 78-square-mile wetlands in Eastern Nepal as a wildlife reserve. The reserve is built around the Sapta Koshi river, Nepal's biggest river, where endangered and exotic wildlife flourishes, providing a fantastic spectatorship for the visitors.

Nepal's last remaining water buffaloes and 31 mammal species reside in the reserves. One of the biggest highlights of the tour is bird watching at Koshi Tappu, where more than 485 species of birds are seen.

You can reserve a spot at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve by contacting us.

3)    Kaptad National Park trek

Only very few people hike to the Khaptad area every year. Residing in the Far Western Region of Nepal, it offers an actual wilderness experience for those who seek a taste of pure nature, biodiversity, and vegetation.

Khaptad is a religious site where renowned Spiritual Saint Khaptad Baba' meditated for 50 years, hence the region is named after the Saint name.

Khaptad is an excellent destination for hikers who want to experience an unspoiled area.

Khaptad Baba, the region's holy man, guided the establishment of Khaptad National Park in 1984.

On the full moon day of July-August, Hindu pilgrims gather at the Khaptad Baba Ashram to worship Shiva.

Very few people visit the park. The landscape consists of grasslands, steep slopes, and streams. A total of 567 different plant species are estimated to exist within the protected area.

There are several vegetation in riverine areas, including pine-rhododendron forests, oak forests, Himalayan fir-hemlock-oak forests, and alder woodlands.

After a scenic flight to Nepalgunj, a quick drive to Silgadi is what you can expect. The hike then takes you to Khaptad headquarters, where you'll learn about the flora and fauna of Khaptad National Park before returning to Dhangadhi.

There is a stunning view of Mount Api and Saipal from Khaptad Lake and Khaptad Baba Ashram in Khaptad National Park.

The National Park is known for its tranquility, calmness, and meditation, so slaughtering and smoking is prohibited.

4)    Sidha Gufa, Bandipur

The first reason to visit Bandipur in Nepal is that it is a well-known tourist destination. This dainty little town also has a profound and exciting Sidha Gufa (also known as cave).

It has a height of about 50 meters and is about 437 meters long. It is said that the Gufa is the largest cave in Nepal, a home to thousands of bat.

A journey through Gufa can be thrilling and adventurous. Corrosion caused minerals such as stalagmite and stalactite to appear spectacular inside the cave. The minerals in the cave give the interior a cathedral-like feel.

Besides Sidha Gufa, Bandipur, a charming little town thrives Newari culture, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas.

5)    National Park Makalu Barun: Barun Valley

At the base of Mount Makalu, Barun Valley is a Himalayan valley that is  a part of Makalu Barun National Park. Bright flowers bloom underneath white snow peaks, high waterfalls cascade down deep gorges, and jagged rocks rise from lush green forests.

The unique terrain protects these alpine ecosystems. While most people are unfamiliar with the hidden treasure, its natural splendor has captivated those who have visited it.

Various climates and habitats in the valley support rare species of animals and plants. One of the few remains of the pristine mountain is found in the Barun Valley.

6)    Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve

The Dhorpatan hunting reserve offers every traveler high hills, terraced fields, and lone trails. The beauty of this place is not well-known to many.

Nepal is the only country that offers hunters a place to practice hunting sport. Apart from being a hunting destination, Dhorpatan offers a contrasting landscape characterized by verdant forests, deep marshes, and flat meadows.

A place where you can reconnect with Mother Nature and look forward to a rewarding experience.

7)    Langtang Valley Trek

Even though Nepal is a heaven for trekkers and adventurers, the Langtang Valley Trek does not receive the deserves in comparison to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek. If you haven't explored this trail yet, you're surely missing it.

Despite its short length, the Langtang Valley Trek is unique. Located in the Himalayas, Langtang Valley offers a unique glimpse of Tamang and Sherpa culture.

You don't have to wait long to begin the trek since it just 117km away from the Kathmandu valley. Apart from witnessing the rich Sherpa culture, you'll also get a glimpse of  massive Langtang Mountain Range, and by the way, it's also home to the endangered Red Panda. Therefore, if you are lucky, you may also see them roaming around.

People in Nepal and India consider Gosainkunda lake to be a holy site. It is said that Lord Shiva himself created this lake. The legend says that Lord Shiva searched for an excellent place to ease the burning in his throat after consuming and storing poison. His explorations led him to Gosainkunda, where he dug up a lake to take refuge. The deity is still believed to be present in this location by devotees.

The most popular starting point for the trek is Dhunche. The best way to get to Dhunche from Kathmandu is to take an early morning bus. Bus tickets should be pre-booked in advance, as it is usually busy in the mornings.

9) Upper Mustang Bike Tour

Although tourists and locals enjoy the Upper Mustang Trek, Bike Tour is still not as famous as its counterpart. The Upper Mustang has an abundance of offerings for its visitors, but to truly appreciate its beauty and pristine sceneries, it's best to take a bike tour!

Think of the feeling of freedom that engulfs you when riding an off-road motorcycle along a dusty gravel road with your companion. That should catch your attention, shouldn't it? There are patches of settlement here and there, and the Annapurna massif is visible off-road. It is a treeless barren area boasting a gorgeous view of the plateau. It sounds exciting even to read about it; imagine how exciting it will be to experience it in person!

1) Tilicho lake

Only a few people trek up to this lake, which allows the beauty of this lake to remain intact and pristine. It stands at 4,949 m above sea level, making it one of the highest high-altitude lakes in the world. The melting glaciers give the water an azure blue color.

There is a religious story hidden behind it, it's said, after losing his wife Sati, Lord Shiva found solace at this place.

From Pokhara, you have to trek to Tilicho lake. Usually, there are 15 people in each tour group during the trek. The best time to visit is between March and June.

11) Helambu

Helambu has located 80 km from Kathmandu and is home to a group of people called the Hyolmo. Helambu has lots of greenery and a rich cultural influence despite being nestled in the middle of snow-capped mountains.

The Langtang range is visible at distance, and the view is beautiful. Along the way, you will encounter parks, meadows, local culture, and wildlife during your week-long trek to Helambu.

From Kathmandu, you can take a bus or taxi to Helambu.

The above-listed places have stunning views, and apart from these Nepal has many more under-rate places! The natural beauty of the place hasn't changed despite the tragic earthquake. A few of the most recommended beautiful places to explore, include Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek)Manaslu region, and  Dolpo region.
