You will be enchanted with the beautiful scenery of the series of Gokyo lake. The first lake is Longpongo which is situated at an elevation of 4,680 meters, the second lake is Taboche Tsho which is blue in color, and like this one after another, there are altogether, six lakes in Gokyo valley.

The Trekking Trails to Gokyo Lake!

The trekking trails to Gokyo Lake begin at the mountain airstrip at Lukla, a one-hour flight from Kathmandu. Lukla is surrounded by beautiful mountains and lush green forests. At Lukla, after meeting the remaining trekking crew, you will move our steps toward Phakding then, Namche, Phortse, Machhermo, and finally, Gokyo valley.

The Gokyo Lake trek structures a widespread of remarkable mountain sceneries, unique cultural encounters with the Sherpa people, and the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world. following the Dudh Koshi River and Imja Khola, you will reach Namche Bazaar; the attractive trade center of the Khumbu region. Spending one or two days at Namche Bazaar for altitude acclimatization and passing Machhermo, you reach Gokyo valley.

The route ends at the Gokyo Ri (18,300 ft); a huge black mound of rock and dirt. The Gokyo village resides at the foot of Gokyo Ri. Gokyo valley has the collection of stone houses and meadows on the shore of a great lake; Dudh Pokhari. After short hiking up to the summit of Gokyo Ri, you will witness the 360- degree views of the Himalayan ranges.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu International Airport (1300m)


One of the representatives from the Himalayan Hero Adventure will warmly welcome and receive you from the exit gate of the Tribhuvan International airport. Afterward, you will be dropped off at our hotel and hotel check-in. After getting fresh up and taking rest for a while, you will be invited to attend an informational meeting regarding introduction with our team members. the meeting will also discuss about the trekking equipment and overall plan of trek. In the evening, enjoy our welcome dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant and have the taste of Nepali cuisine.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation


After having early morning tea and breakfast, your tour guide will guide you to the popular tourist attractions of the Kathmandu valley. Today, you will visit four UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. All these sites hold immense and deep cultural, religious, and historical insights of Nepal. Every year, more than thousands Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from the world visit these heritages. Later, our trek guide will check your equipment and provide some vital information for trekking journey in the Himalayan land of Nepal. In case, you lack any other equipment, you can get it from the Thamel area which is a famous market for both tourists and Nepalese.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,840m) and Trek to Phakding (2,610m)


Flight Duration: 35 mins and Trek Duration: 3 to 4 hours

Enjoy your breakfast and get ready for the beginning of your trekking journey in Nepal! An early morning flight to Lukla offers you the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, lush green forests, and beautiful rivers. After reaching Lukla, we will take rest, meet remaining crew, have lunch, and move forward towards Phakding.

The trail to Phakding encounter you with the wonderful village setting, peaceful and green environment of the Himalayan region. You will pass suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river, small yet, attractive settlements of local people, and many more. reaching Phakding, explore around the village and interact with locals which will be your one of the great experiences and memories!

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) from Phakding


 

Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

After having breakfast, we will move along the Dudh Koshi river. Today’s trail crosses many suspension bridges, several traditional villages, ancient monasteries, and chortens. Before reaching Namche Bazaar, you will pass the Monjo village which is the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park where your trekking permits will be checked. You will also pass Jorasle village. On the way, you will witness the views Mt. Thamserku and encounter the Himalayan wildlife. Reaching Namche, enjoy the sights of many mountains such as Kusum Peak, Lhotse, Tawache, Kangaru peak.

Day 5: Altitude Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar


 

Namche offers you the first beautiful glimpse of world’s highest mountain, Everest. After having morning breakfast, we will explore Namche Bazaar. We can make a short hike to Thame to adopt the higher altitude which will reduce altitude sickness problem. Further hike to the Everest View Hotel offers you the stunning views of the Himalayas. Make a visit to Tourist Center near the Sagarmatha National Park after returning from hiking. You will encounter the Sherpa culture and Himalayan wildlife.

Day 6: Trek to Phortse (3,810m) from Namche Bazaar


Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

After having breakfast and enjoying the sunrise view above the towering mountains, we will leave Namche on a trail with gradual ascend and descend. First, we begin descending to Kyanjuma and then follow the Gokyo trails. We will come across the Dudhkoshi river and walk uphill via the rhododendron forests before reaching Phortse. On the way, you will encounter the Himalayan endangered floras and faunas, beautiful views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Khumbila. Explore around the village!

Day 7: Trek to Machhermo (4,470m) from Phortse


Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Today, we will cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, pass through the dense forests, and waterfalls before reaching Dole. From there, we will continue our walk above the Dudh Koshi River to reach Machhermo. Small yet, attractive villages will pop out on the way. You will witness the fantastic views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Mt. Thamserku.

Day 8: Trek to Gokyo (4,800m) from Machhermo


Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

After having breakfast, we will walk uphill enjoying the views of Dudh Koshi valley and Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Cho Oyu. You will pass through a chorten, Phangga and then descend to the bank of the river up to the lateral moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Before reaching the Gokyo valley, you will pass through three Gokyo lakes. Enjoy the serenity of nature at Gokyo valley and interact with local people to learn their unique culture, tradition, and history of Gokyo!

Day 9: Gokyo Valley Exploration Day and Climb to Gokyo Ri (5357m)


Another acclimatization and exploration day! Adopting with higher altitude reduce the chance of having altitude sickness problem. In an early morning, we will climb Gokyo Ri. Form the top, the view of Himalayan ranges and Gokyo lakes are just jaw-dropping. Later, we will hike up to fourth and fifth lakes. Enjoy the views of many mountains such as Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho Oyu from the top. After exploring around the hill and taking pictures, we will descend to Gokyo village. Take rest properly for rest of the day!

Day 10: Trek to Dole from Gokyo


Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

After having breakfast with the team, we will descend on a trail along the Dudh Koshi River. Passing Gokyo lakes, re-witness the beauty of these ancient lakes! Enjoying the views of Himalayan ranges, landscapes, and environment, we reach Dole.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar from Dole


Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

Today, we will begin our walk on a downward steep trail. Before reaching Namche Bazaar, we will re-cross the Dudh Koshi River, small settlements, pass the suspension bridges, encounter the Himalayan wildlife such as mountain goats, musk deer, pheasants, etc. you will also re-enjoy the mountainous views. On the way, we will make a short visit to Tengboche Monastery which is the ancient monastery of the Everest region. The monastery offers the great view of Mt. Ama Dablam.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla from Namche Bazaar


Trek Duration: 7 to 8 hours

Following the same trail, crossing several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, passing small settlements, we will reach Namche. Your trekking journey ends at Lukla. Spend your remaining time with the team and trekking crew!

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla

At early morning, we will fly to Kathmandu. Re-witness the breathtaking views of snow-covered Himalayans, landscapes, forests, and rivers. Reaching the Kathmandu Domestic Airport, you will be transferred to the same hotel by our private vehicle. After hotel check-in, take full rest or explore around the capital city! Thamel and New road is popular for branded shopping centers. Enjoy our farewell dinner before leaving the country!


Day 14: Final Departure


 

Before three hours of your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the Kathmandu International airport. After having breakfast, pack your bag and get ready for your flight! Have a safe and wonderful journey ahead from our entire team! Hope to see you again!
