What does the Rara Lake Trekking offer?

The Rara Lake trekking offers you the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas like Dhaulagiri including Dolpo, Kanjirowa, and the Tibetan Himalayas. The lake is surrounded by lush alpine meadows and densely forested ridges. Trekking Route to Rara Lake!

Rara Lake has been a popular destination for trekkers from the world having a very rough route in western Nepal. The route offers you a quite different culture and scenery of nature and natural resources throughout your journey. The Rara Lake trekking begins with the scenic flight to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla from the Kathmandu valley. The journey then commences towards the hilly region of Nepal. The actual trekking journey begins from Jumla to Chere Chaur to Chalachaur to Sinja valley to Ghorosingha to Rara Lake to Pina to Bumra and then return to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
Before heading up to these trails, we will make a short and informative visit to some of the popular and historical sites of Nepal like Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square. These are even listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1979. Pashupatinath temple is the biggest Hindu shrine in the world where stone-carved “Linga’ as a symbol of Lord Shiva is worshipped. According to Hindu pilgrimages, Lord Shiva is considered as the god of all gods. Similarly, Swayambhunath temple lying in the hill is renowned as the Monkey temple among westerners. The temple offers you a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley. The view of sunrise and sunset from the top over the white Himalayas is just breathtaking. Furthermore, the Boudhanath Stupa is considered as the largest Buddhist stupas in entire South Asia. Visiting the stupa, you will see many monasteries, praying wheels, and Mani-walls. Lastly, Kathmandu Durbar Square lying in the heart of the city presents the ancient architecture, culture, art, and history of Nepal. Exploring the palace, you will get the chance to see the living Goddess of Nepal called “Kumari”. The Palace has carved wooden windows and doors.

Best Time to Visit Rara Lake!

The best time to visit Rara Lake is the months of September, October, April, and May. The weather of Rara Lake during summer is quite pleasant and winter is cold. During the months from December to March, due to low temperatures, there is heavy snowfall.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Valley (1,300m)


 

Welcome to the land of Himalayas and diverse landscapes on behalf of entire team of the Himalaya Hero Adventure! Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu International Airport, one of our representatives will receive you and transfer you to the hotel in our private vehicle. After checking in the hotel, take rest for a while! We will call you for an introductory meeting with our team members and your trekking guide. In the evening, we will host a welcome dinner which will introduce you with Nepali cuisine. Take full rest!


Day 2: UNESCO World Heritage Sites Seeing


The very next day after having breakfast, we will explore some of the UNESCO World Heritage sites within Kathmandu valley. You tour guide will facilitate you throughout the visit to Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Returning from the visit, we will conduct a meeting. The meeting will discuss on trekking challenges and equipment required. You can ask questions regarding trekking during the meeting. If you lack any kind of equipment then you can buy it from Thamel area. This place is popular for trekking equipment shopping including the national and international branded things. Pack your bag for tomorrow morning’s flight to Nepalgunj!

Day 3: Fly to Nepalgunj (150m) from Kathmandu


Travelling Duration: 1 hour

After morning breakfast and hotel checkout, we will take an hour-long flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. Nepalgunj is the gateway to Simikot, Humla which lies near the Nepal-India border of the Terai region. the town is attractive and have plain land. reaching Nepalgunj, visit around the local market, mini-zoo, and nearby villages.

Day 4: Fly to Jumla (2,540m) from Nepalgunj


Traveling Duration: 20 Minutes

After having early morning breakfast, we will fly to Jumla, the remotest and least accessible hilly land in Nepal. Jumla which lies in the foothills of the Sisne Himal offers you to experience life in the remotest land of the Karnali region.

Day 5: Trek to Chere Chaur (3,055m) from Jumla


The actual trekking journey begins from today. After having breakfast, we will ascend towards Chere Chaur along the Jugad Khola. On the way, we will pass several small villages, religious sites, and a small market named Khalanga Bazaar. Exploring these traditional villages, you will witness the nomadic lifestyle of local people.

Day 6: Trek to Chalachaur (2,980m) from Chere Chaur


After having breakfast, we will move slowly ascends towards the western trail. Then, we will pass the Jaljala Pass (3,580m) and then continue walking via straight tail until we reach Jaljala Chaur from where we will climb a steep trail to enter the Rara Lake circuit. Finally, we reach Chalachaur. Explore the land!

Day 7: Trek to Sinja Valley (2,490m) from Chalachaur


Today, you have to climb an uphill trail up to Sinja valley. The valley holds an important place in the history of Nepal and is famous for ancient palaces, temples, and villages. You will pass through several villages and walk along the Jaljala Khola (stream).

Day 8: Trek to Ghorosingha (3,050m) from Sinja Valley


Today, we will walk along the Hima River and climb on a steep trail up to Laha village. Reaching Laha village, we will continue our walk alongside the Ghatte Khola to reach Ghorosingha.

Day 9: Trek to Rara lake (2,990m)


After having breakfast, we will commence our walk towards the steep ascending trail via Chuchhemara Danda. Reaching the Danda, you will admire the panoramic vistas of Himalayas, tranquility of Rara Lake, diverse vegetation of the Rara National Park. We will cross several villages like Murma, Chapri and pass through the Khatyar Khola Camp to reach Rara Lake. Enjoy the serenity of Rara Lake!

Day 10: Rara Lake Exploration


Finally, we are at the place of largest freshwater lake in Nepal. After breakfast, we will explore around the Rara Lake and do boating in the lake. While boating, you will witness the charming scene of Himalayas like Chuchemara peak, Ruma Kand, and Malika Kand. Capture the beautiful scenery of nature and live the moments in a peaceful and wonderful environment!

Day 11: Trek to Pina (2,440m) from Rara Lake


After having breakfast, we will commence our walk via an easy trail on a relatively straight path. Walking further, we will pass Gamgadhi; the headquarter of Mugu district and descend on a steep trail to reach Pina village. Reaching the village, explore around the place!

Day 12: Trek to Bumra (2,850m) from Pina


After having breakfast, we will descend towards the trail. Today, we will cross the Ghurchi Lagna Pass at an elevation of 3,480 meters and several small settlements before reaching Bumra. The village is also known as Nauri Ghat.

Day 13: Trek to Jumla from Bumra


Today, we will cross two suspension bridges over Himal River and descend towards the trail via Danphe Lagna Pass at an elevation of 3,691 meters. Following the same trail via Chere Chaur, we reach Jumla. Roam around the place, rea-witness the natural views!

Day 14: Fly Back to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu


Waking up early in the morning and taking breakfast, we will move towards the airport. Today, we will take two flights; first to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu from Jumla airport. Re-witness the views of landscapes and green forest areas while flying above the snow-clad Himalayas! Arriving at the Kathmandu Domestic airport, you will be transferred to the hotel and hotel check-in. After getting fresh, either take rest or explore the capital city! The Thamel area of the valley is popular for national and international branded shopping. If you wish, you can buy gifts for your loved ones or family members!

Day 15: Final Departure


 

The last day at Nepal of Rara Lake trekking package! you will be transferred to the Kathmandu International Airport before three hours of your flight schedule. After having breakfast and hotel checkout, we will drive to the airport. Have a safe flight!
