Overview

Kathmandu owes a glorious and dignified history. Ruled by the Malla dynasty and continued by the Shah regime, the city has a lot of stories to dictate. All three durbar squares (Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur) have their own individual dictation. Surrounded by the green hills and snow-capped mountains the Kathmandu city stands high at the elevation of 1400 meters above sea level. Rich in history, art, culture, the city boasts the authentic Newari, Buddhist and Hindu culture as a one-stop destination. From modern to traditional aspects the city is a gem for the voyagers.
 
Nuwakot district covers the land area of 1,121 sq.km and is the land-locked portion of Nepal. It also a place where the unification movement was initiated by the Shah ruler, Prithvi Narayan Shah. Known as ‘City of Nine Hills’, the district is also the trending tourist zone. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the ‘City of Temples’ Kathmandu


We beamingly welcome you to the Kathmandu City. The minute you land in the Tribhuvan International Airport our tour representative is all there to help you and transfer you to your respective hotels. On arrival, you can wander around the nearby areas of your hotels and get rejuvenated for the next few days trip. To make you feel comfortable a small gala dinner is organized and introduction session is conducted where you shall meet your remaining team members and travel guide.

Day 2: Exploring the historical areas of Kathmandu


A full day city tour is organized to make the Kathmandu area traditionally and culturally familiar.
Pashupatinath temple: The temple of Lord Shiva is located just 5km of Thamel. It is one of the holiest shrines worshipped by the Hindu devotees all around the world. The tourist besides Hindu religion are not permitted to visit the main temple, however they can explore the outer areas of Pashupatinath.
Baudhanath: The ancient colossal stupa is a landmark for every Buddhist. Located in Baudha, the stupa is one of the holiest places for the Buddhism.
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Inside the busiest streets of Kathmandu, the Kathmandu Durbar Square stands mighty inside the Basantapur area. Connected through the lane ofThamel, Ason and Indra Chowk. Though built in the Malla era, extension and development process was carried out during the Shah residency.
Kumari Ghar: Just across the lane of Kathmandu Durbar Square, is the Kumari Ghar, where the living goddess Kumari resides. The tourists can take a sort glimpse of the goddess Kumari every evening. The place is filled with tourists during the evening period.
Patan Durbar Square: The durbar square is the prodigy of Newari architecture. Though the durbar become a popular destination of Malla it was structured by the Pradhans. Surrounding the durbar is the Krishna temple, Bhimsen temple, Viswanath temple, and Taleju Bhawani temple. The durbar has three main courtyards which boasts impressive shrines, and historical places in Keshav Narayan Chowk, Mul Chowk and Sundari Chowk.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square: 1400 m above the sea-level and just 13km east from the Kathmandu valley, the complex consists of four distinct squares; Durbar, Dattarey square, and Pottery square and Taumadhi square. The major attraction of Bhaktapur is the popular curd (Ju JuDhau), Vatsala temple, Nyatapola temple, Golden Gate, Lions Gate, and Bhairava Nath Temple.

Day 3: Journey to the “Land of Nine Hills” Nuwakot


From Kathmandu valley we shall move towards Nuwakot. Just one-hour drive from Kathmandu towards GurujeBhanjyang, which is 1900 m high.The travel, is sure to amaze you and exhaust you. For on reaching a 3-hour hiking is planned for you till Thanapati. With not more than 531 households the local community is perfect place for culture exchange program and residence. A short meeting is carried out with the local community family members where you shall be sharing meals and spending few nights.

Day 4: Battar- the central hub of Nuwakot


A small place and hub for many businesses and schools. From Thanapati we shall take you around Batar bazar, where you can shop local delights, taste local made food, explore the unique cultural trends of the Rural Municipal. From Batar we shall get back to Thanapati and spend quality refreshing time with the local families. You can totally drain yourself in the traditions of Nuwakot family life during your entire stay in Nuwakot.

Day 5: Movement to ‘7 storyNuwakot Durbar’


Whole day we shall spend understanding the history of Nuwakot Durbar, their architecture. A local guide is there to share the story of the Durbar. Situated at 900m, the Durbar has an enchanting view. Before the rice cultivating season, the district is sure to lure you with its golden glance. The durbar was expanded by the Late ruler Prithvi Narayan Shah to promote the trade linkage between India and Tibet.
The durbar is surrounded by GaradGhar (TilganaGhar), a four-floor army barrack, Ranga Mahal (Dance Hall) a space to host formal events, and ceremonial occasions. These places release Newari artisan, as the craftsman were all brought from Patan. The traditional mansion is also surrounded by Taleju temple and Bhairab temple.

Day 6: The Northwest attraction Kakani


Just set at a rim of 2073m, Kakani is just off the road of Trishuli bank. The place is quieter and bids a magnificent opinion of the Himalayan skyline elongating to Gauri Sankar, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lekpa, Annapurna and Everest range. It’s a hill station for short excursion 
offering a day hiking, cycling or biking. The place is famous for fresh trouts, strawberry farming and Mountaineer memorial park. From Nuwakot we shall head to Kakani and spend a night.

Day 7: Back to Kathmandu Valley


From all that warmness from Nuwakot, we shall be marching towards Kathmandu. When reaching the valley, one can spend their own personal time in shopping, wandering, eating local delicacies. On this day, a closing dinner is organized to share the goodness of the trip.

    Thanks to Chintan's experience in promoting tourism in Nepal, we managed to organize an excellent visit to the main places in Nepal.
