Himalayan Hero Adventures takes pride in becoming a part of Buddhist Monastery Tour in Nepal. This package is designed for those who are seeking to learn in-depth knowledge of the Buddhist culture in every perspective (birthplace, meditation, philosophy). The package intends to serve every bits of detailed information related to Buddhism.
The Buddhist Monastery tour combines the spiritual and natural fragrance including cultural, political and historical fluent of Buddhism religion. The tour begins from Kathmandu, where the visitors get to observe the beautiful architectures like Swayambhunath, Baudhanathlong with monasteries such as Kopan, Tharlam, Benchen, Amitabha, Shechen and Pranidhipurna.
Following a short trip is organized to the Matrika Cave of Halesi and Namo Buddha. Our trip also includes major attractions in “Lumbini” where you can get a closer view of Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, Myanmar Golden Temple, World Peace Stupa, Dharma swami Maharaja Buddha Vihar, Chine Temple, and Lumbini museum.

TRIP HIGHTLIGHTS

  • Lumbini: World Peace Stupa, and the World Heritage Sites listed by UNESCO.
  • Kathmandu: Inside the valley we shall travel to Swayambunath, Bauddhanath, Benchen, Tharlam, Shechen, Pranidhipurna and Amitabha monasteries. The trip also includes a tour to Matrika cava of Halesi and Namo Buddha.

Itinerary

Day 1: Smooth arrival in Kathmandu


You will be warmly welcomed by our tour representative in the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). From there you will be transferred to your destined hotel, where you shall relax and enjoy. In the evening your trip leader shall brief you about the following day trip schedule and introduce to the remaining members of the trip. In the evening a welcome dinner program is organized by the agency.

Day 2: Sightseeing inside the Kathmandu Valley


This day is sure to tire you and thrill you. We get started with the UNESCO sites and then move to the monasteries inside Kathmandu.
  • Swayambhunath: Flaunting its mighty eyes in the hilltop, just 3km away from the Kathmandu valley, the stupa is popularly known as “The Monkey Temple”. The place shares the dignified view of Kathmandu valley along with spiritual and cultural faith. Known to be created in 460 A.D the stupa is said to have covered the blooming lotus. Surrounding Swayambhu is the sleeping Buddha, Dewa Dharma monastery and a museum.
  • Bauddhanath: Situated in a busy location of Bauddha, the Stupa has given the localities a kind of fresh air to breath. Known to be built in 600 A.D, the stupa holds 13 spires, denoting the stages of human cycle.
  • BenchenMonastery: Its in Swayambhu Stupa and assembles services of Benchen Phuntsok Dagyeling, and Meditation center. Founded in 1987 January by Tenga Rinpoche, the monastery was converted to Charitable Trust in 1995.
  • Kopan Monastery:Tibetan monastery just at the outskirts of Kathmandu, is an international network of Gelugpa Dharma Centers. The gumba is the home for 360 monks, and lamas of every age groups from Tibet and Nepal.
  • Tharlam Monastery: A Tibetan Buddhist monastery created by Shakyas, was founded in 1436, and was re-built by Dezhung Rinpoche in 1981. The monastery has 40 rooms for re-treat and meditation centers.
  • Amitabha Monastery: Known as SetoGumba, the monastery is inNagarjung Municipality. The place is kaleidoscope of different colors, and scenic beauty. The place is beautiful for meditation and re-treat.

Day 3: Visit to Namobuddha


After breakfast we shall move towards Dhulikhel. From there we shall trek to the elevation about 1750 m towards Namobuddha.  The monasteries in this place is surrounded by Tamang communities. After roaming around the place and doing fun-filled activities of yoga or spiritual activity, we shall move to Kathmandu, on the very day.

Day 4: Travelling to Lumbini


From breakfast we shall straightly head to Lumbini, throughout the journey you can enjoy the landscapes of Nepal. Upon reaching the next day schedule shall be briefed, and you can stroll around the markets of Lumbini.

Day 5: Visit the birthplace of Buddha


Historical and popular places shall be visited on this day. The territory has 60 popular destinations which are sure to keep you glued to the ambience and monuments.
  • World Peace Pagoda: Just before the entrance of Lumbini monasteries, the pagoda is easily accessible via bicycle. Constructed under the aid of Japanese Buddhists, the golden statute demonstrates the birth period of Buddha.
  • Mayadevi temple: The temple marks the spot where Lord Buddha was born. Adjacent to the temple is the scared garden and pool.
  • Cambodian Monastery: A strong influence of famous Cambodian temple Angora Wat can be closely monitored. The construction of the temple was completed in 2018 and shines tall inside the premises of Lumbini.
  • Ashoka Pillar: Built by the Indian Emperor King Ashoka, the pillar is stand right next to Maya Devi temple. King Ashoka had built many such kind of pillars and till date only 19 remains. The one found in Nepal is built from Pink sandstone and is 6 meters tall.
  • Myanmar Golden Temple: The temple has three prayer halls and is the oldest one inside the compound. The roof of the temple tower is corncob shaped.
  • Royal Thai Buddhist Monastery: A Thai style monastery built from beaming white marble with blue roof meditation center. Truly a majestic building in the monastic zone.
  • Korean Buddhist Temple: Built by the South Korean government, the temple has a magnificent interior and intricate ceiling.
  • Zhong Hua Chinese Buddhist Monastery: Elegant monastery and impressive structure can be reached through depicts the exact appearance of the Small Forbidden City. The monastery is pagoda shaped and is a perfect oasis for tranquility.
  • Mahavihara Temple: The beautiful temple demonstrating Newari culture with a central courtyard.
  • Puskar Pond: The pond lies in the south direction of Mayadevi temple, where the queen before giving birth to Lord Buddha had taken a holy bath.

Day 6: Moving back to Kathmandu


After the hectic previous day, we shall move to Kathmandu. The journey will keep you recall the activities you carried out yesterday, which we are sure will put a sense of satisfaction. After 7 hours of travelling, we shall reach Kathmandu, where you can explore the streets of valley by yourself. In the evening a closing dinner program is conducted where we shall ask you about the trip and you can enjoy the last day with your team members.

Day 7: The final day to leave Kathmandu


With heavy heart we shall provide you private transfers to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

    Thanks to Chintan's experience in promoting tourism in Nepal, we managed to organize an excellent visit to the main places in Nepal. After our arrival in Kathmandu, we planned together the various visits and transports for Pokhara, Lumbini, Chitwan.
